Cardiff is set to welcome a new culinary addition this April as Carl’s Jr., the renowned Californian burger chain, opens its first UK restaurant in the heart of the city. Located in St David’s Shopping Centre, the 50-seat eatery will create 40 local jobs and introduce Welsh diners to the brand’s signature chargrilled burgers, breaded chicken tenders, and hand-scooped ice cream shakes. Established in 1941, Carl’s Jr. has expanded globally with over 1,100 restaurants across 38 countries. The Cardiff launch is part of a strategic partnership with Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG), known for operating popular UK brands such as Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Carluccio’s. David Moffat, Country Manager for Carl’s Jr. UK, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating:

“We’re thrilled to bring this iconic brand to Cardiff, our first location in the UK. We’ve had incredible interest from fans eager to experience the Carl’s Jr difference, and we can’t wait to welcome them this April.”

The new restaurant aims to blend Carl’s Jr.’s signature West Coast vibe with a welcoming atmosphere tailored to British tastes. This opening aligns with a broader trend of American fast-food chains entering the UK market, including recent arrivals like Dave’s Hot Chicken, Velvet Taco, Popeyes, and Wendy’s.

As anticipation builds, Cardiff residents can look forward to experiencing Carl’s Jr.’s renowned menu offerings and dining experience when doors open this spring.
