For over 185 years, luxury jeweller Laings has been a cornerstone of the UK’s jewellery scene. But behind the sparkling diamonds and prestige timepieces are the influential women shaping the brand’s future. To mark International Women’s Day, Laings is pulling back the curtain on the talent, innovation, and personal inspirations driving their team forward.
From the bespoke workshops in Glasgow to the showroom floors of Cardiff, these women are proving that the world of high-end horology and fine jewellery is being brilliantly redefined by female voices.
Meet the Trailblazers
Serena Gough – Services Director

A figurehead of innovation, Serena joined Laings in 2019 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2023. She heads up the Bespoke and Services department, where she focuses on creating an uplifting environment for her team.
“My aim is to ensure that women’s voices are not only heard but championed within the watch and jewellery industry,” says Serena.
Felicity Lynden – Senior Jewellery Designer

Approaching a decade with the company, Felicity’s journey took her from the University of Edinburgh to work experience in Bath, before finding her home at Laings. For her, the magic lies in the moment a client collects a finished piece.
- Inspiration: Felicity finds her drive in the collective talent of the women she works with every day.
- Industry Shift: She notes that the open sharing of knowledge at Laings has been a vital source of her growth.
Sally Fenton – Jewellery CAD Designer

Sally has spent seven years at Laings transforming sketches into intricate 3D models. Her passion for design runs in the family; she was inspired by her Auntie, a fellow CAD designer and business owner.
- Growth: Sally is thrilled to see her team expanding with more female CAD talent.
Amy Chu – Goldsmith

A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, Amy’s rise from apprentice to fully qualified goldsmith is a testament to the internal training at Laings’ Glasgow Service Centre.
- The Journey: Amy credits the supportive women she encountered at the start of her career for giving her the confidence to find her “calling”.
Tara Blackley – Production Manager

With 14 years of expertise in stock and inventory, Tara’s journey from stock assistant to Production Manager shows the power of being nurtured to your full potential.
- Personal Hero: Tara looks to her mother as her ultimate inspiration for balancing life’s challenges with resilience and grace.
A Legacy of Excellence
Whether it’s through their master watchmakers or the expertly curated collections of Rolex and Patek Philippe, Laings continues to uphold its reputation for excellence across its showrooms in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Southampton, and Glasgow.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it’s clear that the “fingerprints” of these women are what truly make the brand shine.
