There’s a fresh face in a vital leadership position for Cardiff’s connectivity, and we couldn’t be more enthusiastic! Cardiff Airport, the National Airport of Wales, has announced the appointment of Jon Bridge as its new Chief Executive Officer, starting November 3.

Jon brings a wealth of experience from his three-decade career in the retail, hospitality and transport sectors, including successfully guiding the iconic SA Brain & Co. through a period of major transformation as CEO. This is a vital asset for Wales, securing global connectivity and generating over £200m in annual economic benefits. Bridge’s focus will be on driving growth, diversifying the business, and developing the team to ensure an excellent experience for all customers.

“I’m honoured to be joining Cardiff Airport at such a pivotal time,” said Jon Bridge, new CEO of Cardiff Airport. “The National Airport of Wales is a vital asset for our country, providing economic benefits, jobs and ensuring global connectivity. We are striving to be the first choice for airline passengers and the centre of Wales’ aviation-related industry.”

He added that his immediate focus will be on driving the Airport forward. “I’ll be working hard with our team and partners to continue the process of diversifying the business, driving growth, developing our people and ensuring we continue to provide an excellent experience for our customers.”

The Airport also acknowledged the leadership of Andy Jones, who has served as Interim CEO since March. Andy will return to his position as a Non-Executive Director on the Cardiff Airport Board.

As a key national asset, Cardiff Airport supports over 4,000 jobs and generates in excess of £200 million of economic benefit for Wales each year. It is committed to being a Real Living Wage employer, ensuring safe and secure operations at Cardiff and St Athan.

The Airport is continually expanding its offering, with 38 direct routes on sale year-round, including significant investment and growth from its airline partners:

  • TUI has over 30 routes and is investing in a fourth aircraft for Summer 2026.
  • KLM continues to connect Wales to 150 global destinations via Amsterdam.
  • Vueling has increased frequency on its services between Wales and Spain.
  • Ryanair connects Wales to popular European destinations.
  • Crystal Ski offers ski holidays in Austria, France, Spain, Slovenia, and Canada.
