A Celebration of Music for Joseph’s Smile

On Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The Swansea Building Society Arena will be filled with powerful music and an even more powerful message. A Celebration of Music with Joseph’s Smile is a one-night-only concert dedicated to raising awareness and vital funds for children and families affected by childhood cancer.

The event honours the memory of Joseph Yeandle, a little boy who was just three years old when he passed away from Neuroblastoma in 2021. Joseph’s spirit and unwavering smile, even through his toughest challenges, inspired his mum, Katy and aunt Emma, to co-found Joseph’s Smile, a charity that provides hope and support to other families facing a similar unimaginable journey.

“Running this charity is how I get to spend time with Joseph now,” Katy said. “We are building his legacy together and making a huge difference to the lives of so many children at the same time. It brings me so much hope and comfort in my grief.”

This isn’t just a concert, it’s a call to action. With 100% of the proceeds going directly to two UK childhood cancer research projects, the evening promises unforgettable performances from an incredible line-up of voices and hearts.

The show will be hosted by comedian and singer Mike Doyle and feature a star-studded cast, including:

  • Brenda Edwards (from the West End and Loose Women)
  • Lee Mead, the newly announced patron of Joseph’s Smile
  • Rhys Meirion
  • Oscar Hartland (Neil the Baby from Gavin & Stacey)
  • Steve Balsamo, a patron of the charity
  • Karl Morgan and band Who’s Molly?
  • The West End Gospel Choir

All of these artists will be accompanied by an all-star 14-piece orchestra led by esteemed musical director, Adam Dennis.

Since its founding, Joseph’s Smile has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds through dedicated efforts like the Wales vs. England Charity Football Match and being featured in the BBC documentary, “Two Sisters, One Goal.” The charity’s mission is simple: to give families time, hope and help when they need it most. This includes everything from funding treatments to providing specially designed “wiggly vests” for young patients.

“We hope that this concert will help change that and raise funds and awareness—not just for the children already diagnosed, but also to help families recognise the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer because early detection is critical. It saves lives,” said Emma Rees, CEO and co-founder.

In the UK, 1 in 450 children will be diagnosed with cancer, but charities fund the vast majority of childhood cancer research. That’s why events like this concert are so essential. Every ticket purchased will help fund kinder, safer and more effective treatments tailored specifically for children.

This concert also marks the launch of the “Kids Get Cancer Too” campaign, a nationwide effort to raise awareness during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September.

“Children are 25% of our population, but 100% of our future,” Emma said. “This concert is about creating change for them, saving lives, and making sure that Joseph’s light keeps shining.”
