During my time at WCS Agency, I gained valuable insights and skills thanks to the team – who were all very supportive and generous with their limited time. One of the key highlights was writing articles for Cardiff Life Magazine in print and digital formats. My roles included:
- Sourcing events for the What’s On section of the magazine
- Reviewing past issues to familiarise myself with the writing style
- How to format articles
- The process of uploading articles to the Cardiff Life Magazine website
These tasks provided me with a great introduction to the editorial process. During my week, I mainly shadowed Sam Cook, the Editor of Cardiff Life Magazine. I also had the opportunity to collaborate with the team on content creation for WCS’ clients, primarily alongside Account Managers Caitlyn Protheroe and Holly Price. This involved producing engaging reels, TikToks and Instagram posts for brands like Bambu Swansea, and BrewStone Swansea.
The team works under tight deadlines, making time management an essential skill. Throughout the week, I gained valuable insight into this by working against the set deadlines they provided, giving me a real sense of what agency life is like. Overall, my week at WCS Agency was an incredible experience. I enjoyed every moment and will be sure to take the skills I have learned to other employment opportunities.
