Cardiff Pitch Becomes Powerful Tribute to Jess Fishlock And The Power of Representation, In First of Its Kind In Europe.
With just weeks to go before Cymru play their historic first match at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland, a pitch-sized mural of Cymru’s Football icon Jess Fishlock is being unveiled at Splott Football Park in her hometown, Cardiff on June 26, making history as the first full-size pitch mural dedicated to a female footballer in Europe.

Designed by DreamCourts, the artwork is a collaboration between artists Joram Roukes, Shon Price and project manager Emilie Zoethout. The Netherlands based team specialises in transforming outdoor sports surfaces into monumental works of art and held community workshops during the project to engage local youth.
Initiated by Cardiff based creative agency UNIFY, known for their “My city, My Shirt” and Gary Speed mural projects. This artwork pays tribute to Jess Fishlock’s extraordinary legacy as Wales’ most capped footballer and a trailblazer for women, girls, LGBTQ+ people, and communities who continue to expand and redefine that football is “for everyone, everywhere.” It is also a direct response to the FAW’s PAWB campaign to make football inclusive, leading to visible change.
The mural is part of the Welsh Government’s official cultural programme for the tournament, delivered through the Tîm Cymru approach and supported by Wales Arts International in partnership with Football Association Wales.
