Adventure Travel Cymru has announced that the Cardiff-based charity ‘The Rescue Hotel’ has been voted as its Charity of the Year 2024. The Rescue Hotel is a small charity run by volunteers that supports Cardiff Dogs Home, providing veterinary care, behavioural consultants and overall welfare facilities for stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs. They help the dogs to find their forever homes as well as educate the public on responsible dog ownership.

As a part of the partnership, Adventure Travel supports the charity with fundraising and free advertising. Just last month they unveiled the OM150 charity bus that was adorned with images of some of the dogs and advertising for the incredible charity.

In 2027, Cardiff will host Europe’s biggest annual LGBTQ+ multi-sports event: the EuroGames, which is governed by the EGLSF (European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation). Up to 10,000 athletes from across Europe are expected to compete in events across the city in the EuroGames, first staged in 1972 to promote inclusion and integration in sports.

Cardiff’s bid emphasises its vibrant LGBTQ+ community, aiming to create an inclusive environment for athletes and spectators alike. With this milestone, Cardiff reinforces its position as a leader in promoting equality and acceptance, setting a precedent for other cities to follow in celebrating diversity through sports.
