New in Your Neighbourhood – Pontcanna

Poca

The residents of Canton and Pontcanna welcome Poca. Expect an informal, relaxed dining environment, as Poca is heralded as a “friendly neighbourhood restaurant”. The menu focuses on simple ingredients of the highest quality, compiled into seasonal small plates, which can be enjoyed with an array of handpicked wines and cocktails. Their à la carte menu is split into five sections; morsels, charcuterie, fish, meat and vegetables and dairy, alongside a large sharing plate. There’s a separate menu when dining on a Sunday so you can enjoy a humble roast without being too far from home.

Outpost

Pontcanna’s New-York inspired bar and kitchen in the new Laundry Quarter development is set to serve food and drink from breakfast right through until 5pm, as well as serving small plates every Thursday and Saturday evening. Outpost will also house a private dining room that can double up as a meeting room for local businesses. Their New York influenced style draws inspiration from when Nick Saunders’ (owner) partner spent time in the city of New York. They have fond memories of hanging out at the bars and restaurants in Williamsburg and Brooklyn, so have used a mix of seating levels, bold colours and textures against an urban backdrop to bring the NY vibe to Pontcanna. One thing is for certain, you’ll definitely save money on flights for this trip to New York.
