New in Your Neighbourhood – Llanishen and Rhiwbina
Rogue Welsh Cakes
Llanishen welcomes the popular and family-run business, Rogue Welsh Cakes, with open arms. Their new cafe on Llangranog Road serves an assortment of “Welsh cakes with a twist”, ranging from cheese and leek to chocolate orange. Established in 2020 with a fanbase that stretches as far as Australia, the Welsh cakes are adored by all. Although established in 2020, the idea of Rogue Welsh Cakes was conjured up in the ‘90s when a mum of two had the idea of replacing Welsh cake currants for sweet chocolate chips. Rouge Welsh Cakes have taken these traditional ‘cakes’ to the next level with their hot Welsh cake stacks, served with a scoop of ice cream.

Llanishen Reservoir
Lisvane and Llanishen Reservoir has reopened after a 23-year battle. Once a water supply reservoir, now the perfect hotspot for sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. The reservoir is set on 110 acres of green and blue space and is home to fantastic wildlife, offering an oasis from bustling city life. The space aims to maximise public access whilst protecting the site’s ecological importance, striving to create an area where people can reconnect with their local environment.
Surrounded by nature, you’re not short of activities at the reservoir, whether you want to walk to reconnect with nature or take to the water in one of the many activities available. The reservoir will soon offer sailing, but currently, it provides open-water swimming, stand up paddleboarding, canoeing and kayaking, as well as a cafe where you can warm up post-swim.
