Applications are now open for Fairoak Primary School, a new English-medium institution set to open in September 2025 in Cardiff. The school will replace Allensbank and Gladstone primary schools and will be located at the junction of Fairoak Road, Crwys Road, Cathays Terrace, and Whitchurch Road, on the site currently shared by Gladstone and St Monica’s Church in Wales primary schools. The catchment area for Fairoak Primary will include Cathays and parts of Gabalfa, Heath, Llandaff North, and Plasnewydd.

The school is named after a 600-year-old ancient oak tree that once stood in the area, symbolizing strength and longevity. The new facility will accommodate up to 420 pupils and aims to provide modern educational amenities to support the growing demand for school places in Cardiff.

Parents interested in enrolling their children for reception places at Fairoak Primary can submit applications through the Cardiff Council’s school admissions portal. The deadline for applications is January 15, 2025. For more information on the application process and catchment areas, visit the Cardiff Council’s official website.
