The much-anticipated finale of Gavin & Stacey captivated audiences nationwide on Christmas Day, with 12.3 million viewers tuning in, marking the largest Christmas Day viewership since 2008.

 

The special episode, featuring the beloved characters from Barry and Billericay, surpassed the show’s previous Christmas special from five years ago, solidifying its status as a cherished British sitcom.

 

In addition to Gavin & Stacey, the BBC’s festive programming dominated the day’s viewership, securing all top ten spots. The new Wallace and Gromit film, Vengeance Most Fowl, attracted 9.4 million viewers, placing second. Other popular programmes included Call the Midwife, EastEnders, Doctor Who, and the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.
