Victoria Park is set to welcome an exciting new addition for local food and drink enthusiasts, as The Welsh Cheese Company prepares to open its second physical shop later this year. This latest venture from the specialists, headed by international cheese judge Tom Pinder, promises to be a haven for lovers of Welsh produce.
For the past seven years, The Welsh Cheese Company has been dedicated to showcasing the very best of Welsh cheese, collaborating closely with renowned producers such as Caws Cenarth, Caws Teifi, Pant Mawr Cheeses, The Snowdonia Cheese Company, Brooke’s Dairy, and Cosyn Cymru. Their commitment to championing these often-overlooked artisan makers has seen them build a significant presence, with their online shop delivering UK-wide since 2017.
Their first brick-and-mortar store, which opened in Taffs Well in 2022, holds the distinction of being the UK’s first 100% Welsh cheesemonger. Now, their expansion into Cardiff will see them take over the former Anatoni’s Pizzeria / The Dough Thrower site on Cowbridge Road in Victoria Park this autumn. The unit is currently undergoing a full refurbishment, transforming it into a contemporary and inviting neighbourhood destination.
While primarily a cheesemonger and wine shop, the new Victoria Park location also plans to offer seating for up to 20 guests. This will allow customers to enjoy curated cheese platters and wines by the glass in a comfortable, social setting, perfect for savouring the flavours.
