Three of Wales’ top site managers have been crowned the best in the business, winning the most highly regarded awards in the housing industry. On Friday, the National House Building Council (NHBC) recognised them for their unwavering commitment to raising standards at the prestigious Pride in the Job Awards 2025 ceremony in Cardiff.
The competition, widely considered the Oscars of the house building world, celebrates the dedication and leadership of site managers. This year’s top honours went to:
- Rhun Williams (John Kelly Construction Services) who won the Small builder category for his exceptional work on Bro Eglwys in Caernarfon.
- John Coburn (Wates Residential) who took home the award for the Medium builder category for his project at Maple Fields in Cardiff.
- Paul Oakley (Bellway Homes Wales) who was named the winner in the Large builder category for his outstanding work on Longwood Grange in Cardiff.
The celebration didn’t stop there. Each of the three regional winners also received a Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence. This same special accolade was also awarded to five other site managers from across Wales who had already secured a Quality Award in the first round of the competition in June.
These outstanding professionals are: Matthew Coyle, Rhys Evans, John Greggain, Elliot Kingdon and Mark Symonds.
Luke Carter, NHBC Regional Director for West & Wales, praised the winners, stating, “Congratulations to all the winners. They have demonstrated the dedication, passion and leadership skills necessary to deliver new homes to exacting construction quality standards.”
Rhun Williams, John Coburn, and Paul Oakley will now face off against the UK’s best, as they go on to compete for the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards at a gala ceremony in London in January 2026.
