Tom Jones at Cardiff Castle: Everything You Need to Know

Music legend Sir Tom Jones is returning to his homeland for two special nights at Cardiff Castle as part of his “Defy Explanation” tour. The gigs, taking place on Wednesday, August 20, and Thursday, August 21, will feature special guest soul and R&B band, Stone Foundation. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a newcomer to his music, here is everything you need to know to prepare for the event.

Event Timings and Setlist

The gates for all ticket holders open at 5:00 PM, with the final entry at 8:30 PM. The live music is scheduled to finish around 10:30 PM. The show will go on regardless of the weather, so attendees should be prepared for sun or rain.

While an official setlist has not been confirmed, Sir Tom’s recent performances suggest a mix of classic hits and newer material. Fans can anticipate hearing timeless tracks like “It’s Not Unusual,” “What’s New Pussycat?,” “Sexbomb,” and “Delilah.”

Tickets and Entry Information

Tickets for Wednesday’s show are sold out. However, a limited number of tickets for the Thursday, August 21 concert are still available. You can purchase them through the Depot Live website or Ticketmaster. ‘General Admission’ tickets are priced at £84, and ‘Premium Viewing Platform Standing’ tickets are £218.90.

General admission entry to Cardiff Castle will be through the North Gate, located at the rear of the castle. All attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children aged two and under can enter for free without a ticket.

Banned Items and On-Site Amenities

To ensure a smooth entry, please be aware of the following banned items:

  • Chairs, portable furniture, inflatables, and umbrellas.
  • Outside food or drink. One sealed 500ml water bottle and one empty reusable bottle are permitted per person. Free water refill stations will be available.
  • Large bags (anything larger than A4 paper).
  • Alcohol, professional cameras, selfie sticks, glass bottles, and flares/fireworks.
  • Assistant dogs are the only animals permitted on-site.

Bag searches will be in effect upon entry. On-site food and drink concessions will be available for purchase.

Parking and Travel

There is no parking available at Cardiff Castle. The nearest car parks are located at:

  • NCP on Westgate Street
  • Cardiff Arms Park
  • Sophia Gardens

Attendees are encouraged to use public transport or make arrangements for alternative parking well in advance of the event.
