A heartwarming new cafe, Coffi Kava, has opened its doors at Caerphilly Railway Station, offering a unique blend of Ukrainian and Welsh flavors. This special venture is a partnership between two Ukrainian sisters, Hanna and Liudmyla, who sought refuge in Wales, and their sponsor, Sian, a retired NHS worker.
The cafe’s name, Coffi Kava, cleverly combines the Welsh and Ukrainian words for coffee. It celebrates the journey of its founders and their shared passion for baking and quality coffee. The sisters arrived in Wales three years ago and have since found a new home in the country, proudly embracing its culture alongside their own.
A Taste of Two Nations
Coffi Kava’s menu is a testament to cultural fusion, expertly blending traditional Ukrainian dishes with the finest Welsh ingredients. The team is dedicated to supporting local businesses, sourcing products like Coaltown Coffee, a Welsh roastery known for its commitment to regenerating former mining communities. This focus on local pride and community connection is at the heart of their business.
“Opening Coffi Kava has been a dream come true for us,” the Coffi Kava team shared. “The warmth and enthusiasm from passengers, residents, and the Transport for Wales (TfW) team have been amazing. It’s been a joy to settle in and see people embracing what we offer.”
A Thriving Community Hub
The cafe’s arrival has been warmly welcomed by Transport for Wales. Alexia Course, their Chief Commercial Officer, stated, “We’re thrilled to welcome Coffi Kava to Caerphilly Station. This partnership is a fantastic example of our commitment to supporting local businesses and helping communities flourish. We’re confident this will provide a great experience for our customers, whether they’re commuting daily or visiting for leisure.”
Coffi Kava is more than just a cafe; it’s a story of new beginnings, friendship, and cultural celebration. It provides a warm, welcoming space for the community and a delicious experience for all who pass through Caerphilly Station.
