Cardiff Bay welcomes a new retail experience with the official launch of Armadilo, a thoughtfully designed lifestyle store now open on the ground floor of Wales Millennium Centre. Operating daily from 10 am, the space offers a diverse range of home decor, jewellery, accessories for both people and pets, and prints.

Armadilo derives its name from the affectionate nickname given to Wales Millennium Centre, owing to its distinctive golden, arched exterior. Playful nods to this “armadillo” identity are incorporated throughout the store’s design.
Beyond its curated selection, Armadilo serves a significant purpose. All profits generated directly support Wales Millennium Centre’s charitable work, funding initiatives for young people, fostering creative talent, and ensuring the building remains an accessible community hub.
The store aims to offer a distinct retail experience, moving beyond the typical gift shop model. Its interior features pops of colour and a stylish design, bringing a fresh offering to the waterfront. The collection includes elevated homeware, contemporary jewellery, and unique gifts, with every item carefully selected to inspire. Armadilo stocks a mix of premium brands and handcrafted pieces not commonly found on the high street. This includes exclusive collaborations such as a bespoke Armadilo candle by Florence Green, slate jewellery by Tŷ Picl crafted from the building’s own materials, and a distinctive Cardiff print by artist Charlotte Hepburn depicting Wales Millennium Centre.

Additional brands available include Hudson Blu, Earth and Elm, Ewemoo, The Pillow Drop, Abigail Ahern, Powder, Ask Mummy and Daddy, Melin Tregwnt, House of Marbles, and Blue Iris Designs, providing a wide array of products from interior accents to luxury pet accessories.
Armadilo is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, with extended hours until 7:30 pm on show days.
