Global rock icon and the undisputed godfather of grunge, Neil Young, has announced he will be performing as part of the next UK and European leg of the Love Earth World Tour! Young and his band, The Chrome Hearts, will headline the Blackweir Fields on Sunday, July 5th.
With a career spanning six decades and a catalogue running to more than 35 albums, Neil Young is one of music’s most essential and beloved figures. His discography, which includes critically acclaimed albums like Harvest, After The Goldrush, and Rust Never Sleeps, has provided the soundtrack for generations.
Love Earth World Tour has been praised for its unwieldy but rewarding set that pulls from the deep catalogue, often featuring classics like “Harvest Moon,” “Old Man,” and “Like a Hurricane”. The current tour with The Chrome Hearts (Micah Nelson, Corey McCormick, Anthony LoGerfo, and the legendary Spooner Oldham) is a potent mix of classic ballads and full-out jams.
Joining the legendary headliner is composer, lyricist, producer, and author Elvis Costello. Starting in 1977 with The Attractions, he has spent the last 23 years with The Imposters. Costello’s immense contribution to music includes over six hundred published songs, two GRAMMYs, and an OBE. Seeing these two titans of rock on the same stage at Blackweir will be an memorable experience for any music lover.
The Neil Young show is the final, epic headliner to be revealed for the Blackweir Fields series, cementing the new venue’s position as a major destination on the international touring circuit.
Nick Saunders, founder of DEPOT Live (the Blackweir partner), said it best: “Neil Young is the epitome of a living legend… To then also have Elvis Costello on the bill with The Imposters will make this a night that will go down in Cardiff music history”.
