Throughout July and August, Cadw is inviting everyone to dive into immersive historical experiences, interactive workshops, and hands-on activities, all meticulously designed to bring Welsh history roaring to life. Cardiff’s very own colossal neighbour, Caerphilly Castle, is set to reopen its mighty gates on Saturday, July 19th, after two years of extensive conservation and refurbishment. Get ready to rediscover this magnificent fortress, with newly enhanced areas including the Great Hall, Watergate, Wildflower Garden, and the Inner East Gatehouse. It’s the perfect opportunity for a local day trip to see a truly iconic landmark revitalised.

From meeting medieval characters and witnessing dramatic falconry displays to discovering the secrets of ancient ruins and enjoying fairytale picnics, there’s something to capture every imagination.
