Legacy in a Can: How a Welsh Farm is Shaking Up Rural Business

In the heart of the Usk Valley, tradition is fizzing with fresh purpose.

Welcome to Tump Farm, a fifth-generation sheep and beef farm now making headlines for

an unexpected twist – canning craft drinks. The brainchild of Sara Jones, Tumptonics Ltd. is

a family-run, sustainable venture turning natural Welsh spring water into bespoke branded

beverages while offering small-batch canning services to micro producers.

With over a decade of experience in the corporate food and drink world, Sara returned home

determined to future-proof her family’s legacy. The result? A pioneering business that blends

sustainability with style, and proudly champions Welsh craftsmanship.

At the heart of Tumptonics is a naturally filtered spring, tapped directly from beneath the

farm. This pristine water feeds a sleek, purpose-built canning facility, crafted using local

Wentwood timber, that can scale from 10 to 10,000 cans a day and more. From independent delis to buzzing festivals, Tumptonics meets every need.

Sara Jones, a Cardiff University graduate, emphasises the community-focused vision of Tumptonics: “We aim to secure a sustainable future for the farm while contributing to the growth of Welsh food and drink producers.”

They’re doing just that. Transforming the family farm into a creative hub for local producers, complete with a lab, meeting spaces, and a shared ethos of innovation. At the heart of this vision is Tumptonics’ flagship product line, Soleau: a refreshingly original spring water brand launching soon. Using naturally filtered Welsh spring water, Soleau is available in still and sparkling varieties, packaged in sleek, recyclable 330ml cans. It captures the farm’s flavour, flair, and forward-thinking energy, offering sustainable hydration designed for modern, health-conscious lifestyles.

Yet, amid all this innovation, the farm’s roots remain firmly planted. Livestock still roam the fields, and the Williams family continues to uphold their heritage of high-quality meat production.

With one foot in the past and the other confidently stepping into the future, Tump Farm is redefining what it means to be a modern rural business in Wales, and it all starts with a can.
