Kym Marsh Stars in World Premiere of Single White Female Stage Show in Cardiff

The iconic 90s psychological thriller gets a modern update for the stage, coming to the Wales Millennium Centre in January 2026.

The world premiere stage production of the 90s classic psychological thriller, ‘Single White Female’, is heading to the Wales Millennium Centre in January 2026 as part of its UK & Ireland tour. Starring the multi-talented Kym Marsh (known for ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Waterloo Road’), this brand-new play by Rebecca Reid updates the story of ambition, obsession, and the desperate need for belonging in our isolated, social media age. Marsh herself says she remembers being “totally gripped by the movie” and promises audiences will be “thrilled, shocked and entertained”. Tickets are on sale now for its run from 27 – 31 January 2026.

This gripping stage play is a bold and modern reimagining of the hit 1992 movie from Columbia Pictures and the bestselling book by John Lutz. The story originally thrilled audiences around the world and famously led a generation to fear a stiletto heel!

Writer Rebecca Reid has updated the original narrative to the age of social media, allowing the play to explore the desperate need for belonging in an increasingly isolated world. Full of dark humour and sharp, suspenseful storytelling, this production explores how quickly a seemingly perfect arrangement can unravel.

The play centres on Allie, a recently divorced mum who is attempting to balance being a single parent with the demanding launch of her tech start-up. To help make ends meet, she advertises for a lodger, and meets Hedy: however, as their lives intertwine, the boundaries begin to blur. The play explores just how far we’ll go to find family and keep it together.

Marsh is enthusiastic about bringing this incredible new play to Cardiff: “I remember being totally gripped by the movie when I first saw it in the cinema and could never have imagined back then that I’d be starring in the world premiere of its life on stage. Get ready to be thrilled, shocked and entertained and watch out for those stiletto heels!”

The creative team behind the production is just as brilliant: it’s adapted for the stage by author, journalist, and broadcaster, Rebecca Reid, and directed by Gordon Greenberg, whose credits include ‘Heart fo Rock and Roll’ on Broadway, and ‘Guys & Dolls’ in the West End. The show comes from the producer of the hit stage adaptation of ‘The Girl on the Train’.

This play is coming to Cardiff for a limited run: ‘Single White Female’ will be at the Wales Millennium Centre from 27 – 31 January 2026.
