Grounds for Good, pioneer in upcycling coffee grounds into sustainable spirits, is marking its fifth anniversary with a series of achievements, including a silver medal at the 2026 London Spirits Competition and a finalist nomination at the Small Business Britain Awards.
Launched in 2021 by retired consultant psychiatrist, Dr Rosie Oretti, the business was founded with the primary aim of utilising what would otherwise be considered waste. Today, Grounds for Good transforms used coffee grounds into new, innovative, and sustainable retail products. A proportion of their profits helps support Llamau – a charity supporting young people, women and children at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Marking the milestone, Grounds for Good recently secured a silver medal in the bitters and mixers category at the 2026 London Spirits Competition for its Aperoffi liqueur. The award is judged not only on taste, but also on value for money and shelf appeal – key factors that drive consumer purchasing decisions.
Alongside this win, the business has been shortlisted for the Small Business Britain Awards as one of just eight finalists for the Net Hero Award, recognising businesses with an exceptional commitment to environmental sustainability. Winners will be announced at a ceremony held in London, on 21 May 2026.
