The popular bakery chain has cemented its commitment to its UK-wide expansion by opening a prominent new retail unit in the heart of the city centre at the St David’s Dewi Sant shopping destination.
The new shop, which took over the former Trespass unit, officially opened its doors to customers on 7 October. This latest acquisition is a significant one, boasting approximately 2,250 sq ft of space on the ground floor. What’s more, it features an area for external seating right in the St David’s Way mall, perfect for a quick break while shopping.
Part of Greggs’ ongoing strategy is to secure locations with high footfall, and the St David’s Dewi Sant centre, one of the UK’s leading retail destinations, fits the bill perfectly. The new Cardiff city centre store will also create jobs, employing 20 people local to the area, further supporting the regional economy.
The lease for the site was secured by Cooke & Arkwright’s Retail & Leisure team.
Huw Thomas, director of Retail & Leisure at Cooke & Arkwright, highlighted the store’s potential: “St David’s Dewi Sant is one of the UK’s leading retail destinations, and this new store will benefit from strong footfall and excellent visibility, in a prominent position within the shopping centre’s main mall. It’s a great addition to Greggs’ portfolio.”
Jonathan Dent, Greggs’ regional property manager, echoed this enthusiasm, stating, “Opening our new store at St David’sDewi Sant marks another positive step in our growth across Wales. We’re proud to be investing in Cardiff, creating new jobs, and supporting the local economy.”
This expansion is a clear sign of Greggs’ ambitious plans and provides another convenient location for shoppers seeking its popular range of food and drinks.
