WCS AGENCY APPOINTED PR AND MARKETING PARTNER AS WRECSAM GOES FOR GOLD

One of Wales’s most standout agencies, WCS Agency has been appointed PR and Marketing partner for Wrecsam’s 2029 UK City of Culture bid.

Running for an initial 6-month period, WCS will lead the charge, helping to put Wrecsam on a global stage as they aim for first place as the 2029 UK City of Culture. The win will also secure an initial £10m grant to support Wrexham to attract up to £200m investment into the County, which will help to regenerate Wrecsam, attract both future investment and tourism, and help people build careers closer to home. Bradford, which are current holders of the title, are estimated to generate around £700m by 2030, a breathtaking example of how the investment can truly help.

To support Wrecsam to get to the finish line, WCS’ campaign will cover a number of key events, which include a focus on arts and culture, music and sport; shining a light on a number of communities, and the people who make it.

Speaking on the partnership, Chelsea Pinches-Burrows, CEO at WCS Agency comments:

“We are beyond thrilled to have been appointed to support Wrecsam as they go for UK City of Culture 2029. Wrecsam is lucky enough to have been put on a global stage the past few years thanks to football, but there’s still so much more to shout about. And that’s where we come in.

“Our agency focus for this year is ‘From Cardiff, for Wales’, and campaigns like this are a prime example of how we go above and beyond to deliver work we love, to a country we love. A win for Wrecsam will unveil huge potential and help to protect future generations, and we can’t wait to help make that happen.”

Amanda Evans, Culture Bid Director at Wrexham Community & Culture Trust comments:

“We are delighted to be working with WCS Agency to help champion Wrecsam’s bid for UK City of Culture 2029. This is an exciting moment for the county, and we believe WCS will play a key role in helping us realise our potential and communicate our vision for a vibrant and ambitious future.”

Wrecsam will find out whether they’ve been long-listed in March, with the winner being announced in Winter 2026.
