Celtic Manor to Host The G4D Open for the Next Three Years

Celtic Manor Resort, renowned for its rich history of hosting major tournaments, including the 2010 Ryder Cup, has secured a three year deal to host The G4D Open starting in May 2026. This prestigious championship, held in partnership by The R&A and the DP World Tour, will bring 80 of the world’s most talented golfers with disabilities to Wales.

The G4D Open is one of the most accessible and inclusive sporting events in the world, showcasing elite male and female golfers competing across nine different impairment groups. The championship will be held on Celtic Manor’s scenic Roman Road Course, which has a history of hosting top-tier events, including three editions of the Wales Open. Players will compete in a 54 hole stroke play competition, with the event set to take place from May 14th – 16th, 2026. The move to Celtic Manor marks an exciting new chapter for the championship, following its successful run at Woburn Golf Club.

As Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Executive Director of Championships at The R&A, shared, “The G4D Open is an important part of our drive to demonstrate golf is accessible and welcoming to all while inspiring and encouraging more people with a disability to take up the sport.”

The decision to bring The G4D Open to Wales continues a remarkable period for golf in the country. Following the massive success of the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl, which was the largest women’s sporting event ever held in Wales, this new championship further cements Wales’s reputation as a prime destination for major golf tournaments.

For the Welsh Government, it’s about more than just sport. Jack Sargeant, Welsh Government Sports Minister, noted that the event will “offer tourism and economic benefits and showcase Wales as a key destination for people with a disability.”

The G4D Open is a celebration of skill, resilience, and the inspiring human spirit. The stories of these incredible athletes, combined with the world-class stage provided by Celtic Manor, are sure to make for an unforgettable event.
