A revolutionary new platform, Captains Clubhouse, has officially launched, set to empower and support sports captains across all levels. Co-founded by dynamic female leaders Ria Burrage-Male and Vicki Sutton, this first-of-its-kind digital community is specifically designed for team captains, helping them hone their leadership skills, connect with fellow captains, and navigate the unique pressures of their role, regardless of experience or performance level.
Born from their own experiences in the sporting world, the founders recognised the often-overlooked demands placed on captains. Captains Clubhouse aims to fill this void by offering the vital support, resources, and community that captains rarely receive. From grassroots teams to elite sporting environments, the platform provides invaluable video tools, expert leadership guidance, dedicated community spaces, and exclusive content, all shaped by captains, for captains.
“We’ve both worked with captains and lived the captaincy experience; the highs, the pressure, the isolation,” says co-founder Vicki Sutton, a former NGB CEO. “Captains are expected to lead, motivate, manage conflict, and set the tone, but they’re rarely given the tools or compensation to do that well. We created Captains Clubhouse to change that.”
What makes this launch particularly significant is that Captains Clubhouse stands as one of the few sports startups in the UK spearheaded by two female co-founders.
“We’re proud to be two women building something bold in a space often led by men,” adds Ria Burrage-Male, also a former CEO in the sports industry. “This isn’t just a leadership tool; it’s a movement to give captains of all ages and levels the confidence and connection they deserve.”
With a successful pilot phase already under its belt and a rapidly expanding national presence – including banners appearing in sports venues across the UK – Captains Clubhouse is now scaling up, offering tailored access for individuals, clubs, schools, and various organisations.
