Cardiff Awards up to £10k Grants to 14 Community Groups

A wave of positive change is sweeping across Cardiff’s neighborhoods, with 14 local organizations receiving grants to revitalize their community spaces. The city’s Community Building Grants Scheme, a vital initiative funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, is empowering grassroots groups to make crucial improvements, from enhancing safety to boosting accessibility and energy efficiency. These upgrades are not just about new paint and fixtures; they’re about strengthening the very foundations of community life.

This round of funding, with grants up to £10,000, targets a wide range of essential works. For example, fire safety is a top priority for several recipients, including Boomerang in Splott and Cathays Central Youth & Community Project. Elsewhere, accessibility is being improved with Jubilee Community Trust receiving funding for an accessible toilet and wet room, while energy efficiency is a focus for St John The Baptist, which is installing insulation. The grants cover everything from new heating systems for Cosmos FC to kitchen improvements at St Philips Church, highlighting a commitment to creating multi-functional, modern spaces.

“These grants are helping community organisations across Cardiff make meaningful improvements to their buildings—whether it’s better fire safety, more accessible toilets, or energy-efficient upgrades,” said Cllr Lee Bridgeman, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities. His statement reinforces the scheme’s goal of making tangible, lasting improvements that serve the public.
