Cardiff’s housing landscape is set for a significant update as plans for 167 new homes in Capel Llanilltern have been given the green light. The development, spearheaded by Persimmon Homes, is part of a larger initiative to create a thriving new community on the outskirts of the city.
What’s Coming?
The approved plans for The Parish site include a mix of one-bedroom flats to spacious four-bedroom houses, all featuring off-street parking. A key focus of the project is accessibility, with 62 of the new homes designated as affordable housing for a local authority housing association.
A Hub for the Community
Beyond just homes, the development will feature a “Local Centre.” This area is envisioned as a community hub with new amenities, services, and a public square. Lee Hawker, managing director for Persimmon Homes East Wales, highlighted the bigger picture, stating the development will eventually include a new school, shops, offices, and sports pitches.
When Can We Expect It?
Construction is slated to begin this autumn, with the first residents expected to move in by the second half of next year. This development marks a new chapter for Capel Llanilltern, promising a vibrant, new neighbourhood for Cardiff residents.
