Cerebral Palsy Cymru is a national centre of excellence and the sole specialist cerebral palsy charity in Wales.

Established over 30 years ago by a group of dedicated parents, their mission was to create a centre that would provide specialist therapy for children with cerebral palsy in Wales, eliminating the need for families to travel to London for treatment. In 1992, their vision became a reality with the opening of the original premises, then known as Bobath Cymru.

Today, Cerebral Palsy Cymru continues to offer vital support and therapy to children and families across Wales, focusing on early intervention to maximise outcomes. They believe in the importance of providing specialist therapy as early as possible, as research indicates its significant impact on a child’s future development.

As the most common physical disability in children worldwide, cerebral palsy affects many families in Wales, with an estimated baby being born with the condition every five days. To sustain their life-changing services, Cerebral Palsy Cymru relies heavily on fundraising efforts, requiring approximately £2 million annually, with 80% of this funding coming from donations and fundraising activities.

There are numerous ways for individuals and organisations to support Cerebral Palsy Cymru’s mission, such as:

  • Visit one of their four charity shops around Cardiff (Llanishen, Whitchurch, Cathays and Barry).
  • Become one of their Corporate Partners or adopt them as your charity of the year.
  • Attend one of their many fundraising events.
  • Get your school, business or community group involved and take on a fundraising challenge.
