Bodega, Cardiff’s celebrated destination for fire-cooked Mediterranean small plates and an unparalleled wine-by-the-glass collection has welcomed Rhodri Davies as its new Head Chef.
Rhodri Davies, a Cardiff native and former contestant on MasterChef: The Professionals 2021, joins Bodega with an impressive culinary background and a passion for delivering elevated dining experiences. Known for his refined approach to seasonal cuisine, Rhodri honed his skills at two Michelin-recommended establishments; The Heathcock in Llandaff, where he mastered the art of technically accomplished, modern British fare; and at Heaneys in Pontcanna working under Great British Menu chef Tommy Heaney.
Since stepping into his role at Bodega in late 2024, Rhodri has embraced the restaurant’s ethos of celebrating the elemental forces of smoke and fire, infusing Mediterranean-inspired creations with an innovative touch.
The Bodega menu—divided into snacks, small plates, and share plates—offers something for every appetite, along with a wide variety of fine wines by the glass. With the option of sitting at the ‘Chef’s Counter’ or booking into one of Bodega’s monthly chef’s tasting nights, Rhodri’s appointment cements it as a destination ‘hidden gem’ outside the city centre, and a must-visit for 2025.
Rhodri said:
“I’m thrilled to be leading the kitchen at Bodega and leaning into the art of cooking with fire. “We love to share a dynamic, intimate dining experience with our guests and showcase how fire transforms the way we eat and enjoy food.”
