National communications agency, Freshwater, has been appointed to deliver the British Ports Association (BPA) Conference 2024 in Portsmouth, after winning a competitive tender.
For more than 25 years, Freshwater has been operating as an autonomous communications consultancy with a team of 50, now primarily located in Cardiff and London. The company offers a diverse array of services across multiple channels, including strategic advice, digital campaigns, communication training and event coordination. Additionally, Freshwater manages a conference enterprise known as the Waterfront Conference Company, specialising in hosting industry-specific events for the planning, energy, rail, ports and maritime sectors.
Portsmouth International Port (PIP) has chosen Freshwater’s specialised events unit as the primary provider to organise the annual ports conference for 2024. Freshwater will oversee comprehensive event coordination for the conference, scheduled to span two days in October 2024, hosted at prominent locations across the city. Already established as the UK’s most successful council-owned port, PIP will be working with the British Ports Association and Freshwater to deliver an engaging and informative event that will be based around sustainability, showcasing the marine and maritime heritage of Portsmouth, as well as its international port and newly opened terminal building.
This recent achievement for Freshwater’s events team further expands its extensive client base, encompassing both public and private sectors. Notable clients within this roster comprise Associated British Ports, British Telecom, Unite the Union, the Welsh Government, and several NHS trusts. In response to the success, Aled Edwards, serving as the Director of Events at Freshwater, commented, “For over 25 years, Freshwater has been offering event management services to some of the UK’s most significant organisations, and we take immense pride in the addition of such a prominent event to our portfolio.”
