It’s that time of year again, Cardiff’s annual celebration of wine! This year we are delighted to host the Cardiff Wine Festival at the Marriott Hotel which offers spacious and elegant halls to showcase the wonderful array of wines we have for you this year. Set against the backdrop of this historical venue, we invite you to immerse yourselves in this unique ‘walk-around’ tasting.

This year we have nearly 300 wines for you to taste from over 10 countries. These carefully chosen wines from both the ‘New’ and ‘Old’ world of wine promise to lead you on a sensory journey as you try new wines ranging from bold reds to crisp whites and everything in between. As always, the winemakers themselves will be present to give you detailed insights into each wine and explain the story and history of where they come from. It is a one-of-a-kind experience for all wine lovers where you’ll have a rare opportunity to taste top-quality wines until you find ‘the one’ you’ve been searching for!

We pride ourselves on being accessible to all, whether you’re a sommelier, wine enthusiast or even just at the start of your wine-tasting journey, everyone is welcome and everyone can enjoy themselves with our experts on hand to guide you through, this includes the founders of the Festival Robert Maggi, Marco Perini and Luca Montuori.

The Cardiff Wine Festival is about more than just wine, however, with a plethora of food stalls on hand offering the best in Welsh cuisine. From artisan cheeses to fresh seafood, you’ll be able to find the perfect pairing for your favourite wines. We are also proud to partner with the Royal College of Music and Drama, the Welsh Culinary Association and the ICC – Italian Culinary Consortium.

But we’re not just about indulging the palate; it’s a celebration of community and culture. Local artists will display their work, adding a visual dimension to the event. Live music will fill the air, creating a festive ambience that encourages guests to mingle, dance and create lasting memories.

Luca: “Frenesia” Falangina Sparkling Brut by Rossovermiglio – £18
An amazing sparkling wine from south Italy, with an elegant and intense nose of white flowers, fresh fruit and pleasant mineral notes. Fresh, clean and well-balanced. Intense floral notes of acacia, almond and a touch of delicate flowers. A savoury, slightly spicy aroma adds complexity and depth, enhancing the overall experience. With its well-balanced profile and vibrant acidity, this wine leaves a lasting impression, culminating in a long, satisfying finish.”

Marco: Appassimento Organic, IGP Puglia by Kerinos – £12.90
Rich, complex and intense flavours of ripe dark cherry and plum, with spicy notes of vanilla and toasted oak. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long elegant finish. “Appassimento” is a particular style of wine obtained by drying grapes, either on special racks or on the vine for a late harvest. This process allows the grapes to concentrate the sugar levels and the flavours.
