Carly Hart, a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Support Officer serving Cardiff’s Llanishen, Llanedeyrn, Rumney, and St Mellons communities, has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the New Year Honours list for her exceptional contributions to policing and community safety.
Hart’s innovative approach has been instrumental in launching initiatives that enhance public safety. She has collaborated with local schools to address issues like anti-social behaviour, promoted the StreetSafe project to combat violence against women and girls, and partnered with the Cardiff City FC Foundation to create opportunities for young people.
Upon receiving the honour, Hart expressed her surprise and gratitude, stating: “I am so grateful to even have been considered for an honour at this level, never mind receive it.” She also acknowledged the collective effort involved in neighbourhood policing, thanking her colleagues and partner agencies for their support.
Superintendent Arabella Rees of Cardiff and Vale BCU praised Hart’s dedication, noting that her “exceptional work ethic and innovative approach to community policing” have been pivotal in making Cardiff’s communities safer. Rees added, “Her professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm has made and continues to make a real difference.”
