The LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons have just announced their selection as one of the eight teams included in the new era of the Netball Super League (NSL).
This monumental achievement follows a rigorous selection process conducted over the course of eight months, and the team are excited to align with the vision of the Netball Super League to elevate the sport to new heights.
‘Being named after the vibrant and innovative Capital of Wales is of special significance for us,’ says Vicki Sutton, Chief Executive Officer. ‘Cardiff is a fantastic place to live, work, and play netball, and we are proud to represent this dynamic city in the re-launched Netball Super League.
‘We extend our thanks to our sponsors who have been instrumental in helping us transition into this new phase. A special thank you goes to LexisNexis, our first-ever headline partner, who joined us in the 2024 season. We also thank Ridgecrest Cleaning, O’Neills, Cardiff University, Visit Cardiff, Neon Arena, Xeinadin, Cardiff Life, Route Media, and Physique for their unwavering support,’ she added.
‘Our application to be part of the next decade of professional netball in the UK was carefully considered, and we understand the journey ahead will be challenging. However, we are excited about the positive changes and opportunities that will come.’
For the 2025 season, half of the games will be hosted at major arenas nationwide, attracting larger crowds and providing fans with an elevated match day experience. Additionally, all games will be accessible for home viewing.
Beyond the court, there will be a strong effort to expand the fanbase and connect with untapped communities. This initiative aims to take current fans on a thrilling new adventure while introducing new audiences to an exciting and captivating sportainment experience.
‘A heartfelt thank you to the staff and players at Cardiff Dragons and Wales Netball for their patience and support during this process. We are also grateful to the board of Cardiff Dragons and Wales Netball for their guidance and wisdom. As founding members of the Netball Super League, we are thrilled to move forward into the next phase alongside the other seven franchises and England Netball,’ Vicki concludes.
