The last few years have seen fantastic development for Cardiff City FC Women. Whilst adopting a philosophy of bringing through young players and giving talented prospects in Wales opportunities to progress, the side has made significant strides in the Welsh domestic game. Winning the Bute Energy Welsh Cup with a 2-0 triumph over Cardiff Met in 2022, that piece of silverware was a catalyst and set the tone for the success that has followed.

In the next season, the Bluebirds won the Adran Premier title for a second time in the Club’s history, as well as repeating the feat of winning the Bute Energy Welsh Cup. One trophy became two, then two became three, as City won a historic treble in the 2023/24 season, adding the Adran Trophy to their collection for the first time in a memorable campaign.

The two league title victories have resulted in an opportunity to compete in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, which has provided an invaluable learning experience for the squad. Facing the likes of FC Gintra, Shelbourne, FC Twente and FK Ljuboten, the Bluebirds have competed well against some strong opposition from across Europe.

Iain Darbyshire’s side has the aim of becoming the first Welsh domestic club to win a game in the UEFA Women’s Champions League since the qualifying stage restructure and regularly make an impression on the European stage. As the Women’s programme in the Welsh capital looks to take this next step, you can play your part, as all sponsorships directly contribute to enhancing the Women’s programme at the Club.
