Music is taking over the capital as Blackweir makes its debut this summer with a blockbuster series of concerts set against the stunning backdrop of the River Taff.
With a capacity of up to 35,000 attendees per night, Blackweir is poised to become Cardiff’s newest music institution. This inaugural season will feature four headline shows between 27 June and 9 July, bringing a genre-spanning line-up of global icons and local talent.
Here’s your essential guide to tickets, travel, timings and what to expect.
Who’s Headlining?
The series kicks off on Friday 27 June with US sensation Noah Kahan, who is making one of only two UK headline appearances this summer. Supporting him is Djo, the musical project of Stranger Things star Joe Keery.
On Wednesday 2 July, alt-rock icon Alanis Morissette takes the stage with support from fellow US singer-songwriter Liz Phair, Cardiff’s Gwenno and Anglesey’s rising star Megan Wyn.
Metal fans are in for a treat on Thursday 3 July, with legends SLAYER leading a fierce line-up including Amon Amarth, Anthrax, Mastodon and Hatebreed.
And finally, none other than Stevie Wonder will close out Blackweir on Wednesday 9 July, joined by soulful support from Corinne Bailey Rae.
