Exciting developments are underway for one of Cardiff’s iconic Art Deco landmarks. Plans have been submitted to transform 125-139 Queen Street into a 158-room, four-star hotel, complete with a rooftop fine dining restaurant and sky bar.

Located at the junction of Queen Street, Dumfries Place, and Station Terrace, this prominent building resides within the Queen Street Conservation Area. The proposed project aims to rejuvenate the currently underutilised structure while preserving its historical significance. The existing ground-floor retail units, occupied by KFC and Sainsbury’s, will remain operational.

  • New Hotel Entrance: The unit formerly occupied by Creams will be repurposed to create a dedicated hotel entrance on Queen Street, enhancing accessibility and prominence.
  • Upper Floor Conversion: The currently underused upper floors will be transformed into hotel rooms, optimising the building’s potential.
  • Vertical Expansion: A three-storey extension will be added, culminating in a set-back rooftop pavilion on the seventh floor, designated for the restaurant and sky bar.
  • Facade Enhancements: Comprehensive upgrades, including a new stone-clad facade, modern windows, and external lighting, will revitalise the building’s exterior while respecting its Art Deco heritage.
